Free-tail Bats take flight in Texas!
Austin TX: Waiting under the Congress Ave bridge for the nightly flight of roughly 1.5 million free-tailed bats. These bats winter in Mexico and return each spring to Austin. At least 750,000 bat pups are born here each summer. The bats emerge at dusk each day to feed on millions of insects, many of them pests. There are about 200 people here waiting to experience Austin's most famous mammals.
